The story of our new family began in January 2018, as a couple of millennials (yuck) did the stereotypical thing and met online. Our first date was to Westgate Lanes in Brockton, Massachusetts on January 9th, 2018. Shockingly, and for probably the only time, Barrett was on time while Ashley was running late. While nervously wondering if he had been stood up, out of the corner of his eye Barrett saw the cutest woman he had ever seen. Ashley came over and introduced herself and tried to shake Barrett’s hand but as a sign of things to come Barrett insisted on a hug. We bowled three rounds that evening, with Ashley taking “lady’s first” literally in winning the first round. To up the ante a kiss was wagered on the second round, which Barrett won handily. Unbeknownst to Ashley at the time Barrett was already smitten and when the time to settle the bet came around it was Barrett who initiated the first kiss. Since that night Barrett has always held that owed wager over Ashley’s head and it will finally be settled on August 30th about 340 miles from where the magic originated. “You may now kiss your bride” will forever hold special meaning to the couple of the day.
Everything about Ashley and Barrett is both non-traditional and unconditional. We just click. What couple would move in together just three months after meeting, but that is exactly what happened with us. Seven and a half years and four apartments (in three different states) later we are proud to welcome you in celebrating our love, laughter and commitment to each other. We have our shared interest in live music combined with Jeopardy!, Boston sports, and equally competitive personalities to thank for our love that grows stronger every single day. We are just as happy staying in at home playing ultra competitive games of Yahtzee or Scrabble as we are day tripping around Pennsylvania and surrounding areas.
Barrett and Ashley are beyond proud to officially join each other's respective families. Barrett is thrilled to be able to officially call Violet his (step) daughter and is proud of the wonderful young adult she is becoming. To cement the deal with a first round pick Barrett also is choosing to adopt Dug Dennis Haynes, the Boston Terrier that encouraged Barrett to finally take the next step in the relationship after years of “if you like it then you should have put a ring on it”. He did and the rest will be everlasting loving history. We are hopeful that you can all be here for the ceremony to celebrate this momentous occasion in our lives and grateful to you for being a part of the festivities.
Our new adventure awaits…
